Shinran Shonin is the founder of Jodo Shin, Pure Land Buddhism. He was born in Kyoto, Japan, about 800 years ago and lived to be 90 years old.
Part one depicts Shinran Shonin's life from his birth to his ordaination at the age of nine.
Shinran Shonin lost his father when he was 4 years old. He list his mother at the age of 8. When he was 9 years old, he decided to become a priest and seek salvation. He was ordained at the Tendai Center on Mt.Hiei and followed the teachings of the Lotus Sutra.
